It might seem like a strange thing to do to add a beige rug to a neutral toned room, but in fact it can be very useful to tie all the elements together. If the colours are generally very pale, a warm beige rug can bring a subtle depth to the look and make the whole room seem much more cosy.
A red or terracotta rug or any accent in the warmer shades to reinforce the effect immediately fools your brain into feeling warmer, you relax and you start to feel more comfortable in the room.
