Finding the ideal location for a modern or traditional round rug

The obvious location for round rugs is under circular furniture such as coffee tables and dining tables. Under normal circumstances, we dismiss circular shapes as not being for us, yet they can give a bedroom a modern edge or a hallway that touch of traditional elegance with the simple use of curves, colour and design without over domination of the space. Think about a the shape as design element, for example, larger sizes can be used partially under furniture such as corner suites and beds to create really funky effects.

Circular elements can really accentuate a smaller room, making it appear larger and wider if you find the area a bit narrow. If your decor is neutral then why not try a beautifully patterned or a bright colour to really set off the area, drawing the eyes to the shape on the floor and the way it contrasts with the colours in your room. If you have a passageway that seems too large and empty then a good quality circular mat can add colour, substance and style whilst reducing the appearance of a bare hallway.

Using contemporary shapes and colours

Shapes can make a house seem more inviting, making it appear warmer with a contemporary look. Even a plain neutral colours can revitalise the most boring of rooms, especially if your decor is quite bright. Curves can give a tiled or laminate flooring dimensions in warmth and style, choose soft, pale, pastel colours for dark coloured floors and maybe bright primary colours for lighter coloured floors.
